Why Conyers Emissions?

Fast: 97% of the time our analyzer is operating smoothly. We currently have two analyzers to prevent downtime and to better service your emission needs. The time to test any vehicle, 2000 through 2021, is 5 to 7 minutes.

Fair: We genuinely care about all of our customers. We go above and beyond to ensure that you have a positive testing experience.

Fifteen: Our price for emission testing is $15. The cheapest in town! There is a dollar fee on all credit/debit and contactless payments.

What to do if you fail the emission test?

  • The first item of importance is to check for service bulletins to ensure that your vehicle does not have a current recall with the manufacture.
  • Next, contact a trustworthy repair specialist to diagnose and fix the trouble codes. GCAF has a list of repair stations located at Conyers Emissions and at cleanairforce.com
  • You can go to your local county tag office to find out if you are eligible to receive a 30 day extension. Your vehicle has to fail the emission test to qualify.
  • Please note: If your vehicle fails for readiness, this can be an indicator of a number of things:

First, your battery may have been replaced recently or you jump started your battery prior to testing your vehicle.

Or your check engine/service engine soon light was on recently AND you may have fixed the trouble codes displayed or cleared the check engine light without fixing the trouble codes. Sometimes this can work BUT most of the time it will not work. It is important to resolve the trouble codes by utilizing a  trusted repair specialist.

    • The vehicle has to be driven several miles (highway and local) to reset the computer in your vehicle after a battery change or repair to the vehicle.
    • Most mechanics will tell you 50 to 100 miles of driving will resolve the readiness problem. GCAF suggest driving the vehicle 1 to 2 weeks.  Remember you may be eligible to receive a 30 day extension while going through the process of getting your vehicle ready to pass.
    • Conyers Emissions will pre-check your vehicle for readiness after failing the initial test at our station. We are a high volume testing station as a result, we can precheck your vehicle once per day.

Please note: The vehicle will not pass with a check engine/service engine soon light. Below are images of MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light). Also known as a Check Engine Light that are displayed on vehicles dashboards. Your vehicle will display one of these if there is a problem with your vehicle.

Useful Information

Great news! A new rule allows inspectors to bypass testing the fuel cap during the emission test.

Motorist can register their vehicles at the Kiosks at select Kroger grocery stores. Address in Conyers: 1745 GA 138 SE Conyers, GA 30013/ 770-922-8753. Address in Covington: 5341 Highway 20 S Covington, GA 30016 / 770-788-4000. Both locations are open 7 days a week. Hours: 6 am to 11 pm. A driver’s license, license plate number, or your tag renewal notice is required to register your vehicle.

Senior Exemption: You may qualify for the senior exemption if you meet ALL three of the following criteria:

1st: Be at least 65 years old or older,

2nd: The vehicle is registered in your name and is at least 10 years old,

3rd: You must drive 5,000 miles or less per year.

Out of Area Extension: You may qualify for an Out-of-Area Extension if you (or the driver) and your Georgia-registered vehicle are temporarily located well outside of the 13-county emissions testing area of the state of Georgia due to school, military or business obligations. If you are unsure whether you or your vehicle are considered “well-outside” the 13 covered counties, please review the “Georgia Counties Within Driving Distance” and/or “Bordering States’ County List Requiring an Inspection” documents or contact GCAF at 1.800.449.2471 with the location of the school or business.

Out-of-Area Extensions are valid for a maximum of one (1) year. You must apply for an Out-of-Area Extension each year prior to the vehicle registration renewal date. In addition, the vehicle must receive an emissions inspection once it returns to the metro Atlanta area. GCAF does not accept emission inspections from other states; however, an emissions inspection from another state may be used to prove the vehicle is out of the area.

If you are out of the area for a reason other than those listed above, document your situation for being temporarily located out of the area, then email it to waivers@cleanairforce.com, along with supporting documentation for GCAF consideration.

30 Day Extension:  On July 1, 2015 SB 100 passed during the 2015 session of the Georgia General Assembly and has been signed into law.

SB 100 amended O.C.G.A. § 40-2-20 to allow for the issuance of a 30-day temporary registration where
the owner is unable to comply with emissions standards by the due date of the owner’s annual vehicle registration renewal. This provides the owner with additional time to have the vehicle repaired beyond
the registration renewal due date.

*You must go to your local county tag office to apply for the 30-day extension*

Our History

Our History

Our founder Mr. D.D. Gunn expanded his business to the Conyers/Rockdale County area in 2011. He began his journey in the emission industry in his late twenties. He wanted an essential business with guaranteed income. He was wise beyond his years. Mr. Gunn lost his battle to bone cancer a decade ago. He would be pleased to know we are still going strong. If God is willing, we will expand our business in the future.
